Nano‐scale applications in aquaculture: Opportunities for improved production and disease control

Aquaculture is the fastest growing food-production sector and vital to food security, habitat restoration endangered species conservation. One of continued challenges industry our ability manage aquatic disease agents that can rapidly decimate operations are a constant threat sustainability. Such threats also evolve as microbes acquire resistance and/or new pathogens emerge. The advent nanotechnology has transformed approach fisheries management with advances in water disinfection, conversion, fish health systems. In this review, several nano-enabled technology successes will be discussed they relate associated aquaculture sector, particular focus on fishes. Future perspectives how offer functional approaches for improving disinfection innovating at practical space early warning systems discussed. Finally, importance “safety by design” development novel commercial products emphasized.
